Simone Grosso — Astrophotographer
Project type
Nebula
Location
Switzerland
An object that was very close to my heart and one of my first was with the new ASI2600MM and 21.5 hours exposure time. I really wanted to photograph the Spider Nebula (IC417) because I am totally fascinated by its shape and structures, especially the specially shaped column in the center of the nebula I found just wonderful.
I worked on this image for 9 nights because, as is often the case, our weather was not particularly good and there were simply few clear nights in February this year. And the editing also presented me with some challenges as I also started to use PI again. The final picture was then about the 9th attempt that I finally liked.
It fascinates me again and again what can be found in our universe, how unbelievably far the distances are and what we can make visible with our wonderful hobby. I think it's great to see so many different images and every astrophotographer shows their images in different colors and processing versions, which is simply amazing.
Every struggle, every hour, even if it costs a lot of nerves, is definitely worth it. For me, the hours on clear nights when my telescope takes pictures outside and the days afterwards when we edit the pictures are a total break from the stress of everyday life.
For me, there is nothing better than watching the stars at night and dreaming of these infinite expanses
