Last Updated: [29thJan, 2025]
1. Introduction
At Picastro, we are committed to ensuring that our platform is a safe and positive environment for all users, including children and young people. This policy outlines our approach to child safety in compliance with UK and Scots Law, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Online Safety Act 2023, Data Protection Act 2018, and UK GDPR.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to all users of Picastro, our staff, moderators, and any third-party service providers involved in the operation of the platform.
3. Age Restrictions
Picastro is designed for users aged 13 and over. Children under 13 are not permitted to create accounts.
We use age verification measures to prevent underage sign-ups.
Parents or guardians must approve accounts for users aged 13 to 16, in line with the UK GDPR age of digital consent.
4. Protecting Children from Harm
We have the following measures in place to keep young users safe:
Strict Content Moderation: Our team monitors and removes harmful content, including inappropriate images, bullying, and any illegal activities.
Reporting and Blocking Features: Users can easily report abusive behaviour, inappropriate content, or suspicious activity.
No Direct Messaging for Minors: Users under 16 cannot receive unsolicited direct messages from adults.
No Fake Accounts or Bots: We verify accounts to prevent impersonation and online exploitation.
5. Data Protection and Privacy
We never share children's personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising.
Parents/guardians can request data deletion for their child's account at any time.
All user data is stored securely in compliance with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
